Anand is a wealthy, spoiled orphan who squanders his inheritance on drinking and gambling. After a drunken brawl, he is saved by Selvam, whom a grateful Anand appoints as his personal assistant. Soon, Anand meets Geetha, the niece of his accountant Nagapillai, and falls in love with her. She restores order to his chaotic home, helps him recover from alcohol-induced jaundice, and convinces him to stop drinking.
Anand sympathetically funds the cancer treatment of Selvam's supposed lover. However, after going bankrupt and selling his mansion, Anand attends a wedding, only to discover the bride is Selvam’s "dying" lover. She reveals Selvam paid her to scam Anand. Devastated, Anand relocates to the slums and relapses into alcoholism. Geetha rescues him, securing him a job as an auto-rickshaw driver. When Anand thwarts the treacherous Selvam's plans to marry a wealthy woman by exposing his scam, Selvam repents. Finally, Anand embraces a simple, happy life with Geetha.
