Synopsis:
Ajay (Mahesh Babu), a wannabe Kabaddi champion rescues a seema girl Swapna (Bhoomika) from the clutches of a ruthless factionist leader Obul Reddy (Prakash Raj), who is obsessed with the idea of marrying this beautiful girl. Ajay is a Kabaddi player and is the son of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mukesh Rishi). Obul Reddy is a factionist in Kurnool. He falls in love with Swapna. Obul Reddy kills Swapna's brother (Achyut) as he rejects his offer to marry Swapna. Then Swapna’s younger brother also gets killed by Obul Reddy when he tries to seek avenge on his brother’s murderer. Swapna’s father is a meak guy who gets horrified by Obul Reddy’s acts and asks Swapna to go away from the place and lead a peaceful life at her Uncle’s place in the U.S. by giving her the necessary certificates and money. Obul Reddy catches her when she starts fleeing because by coincidence Swapna gets into one of the lorries owned by him.. At this juncture, Ajay - who is in Kurnool to play Kabaddi games - rescues Swapna from the hands of Obul Reddy and takes her to Hyderabad. Ajay takes Swapna to his house and hides her in his room. Ajay, with the help of friends, arranges passport, visa and flight tickets for Swapna. Mean while, the Home Minister (Rajan P Dev) who happens to be the brother of Obul Reddy asks ACP to search for Swapna and the apparent kidnapper. When ACP realizes that it's his own son who did the crime, Ajay and Swapna runs away from his home and hides in Charminar. The rest of the story revolves around how these two people become united. A record breaking movie at the box-office which proved that 'Prince' Mahesh is not just a Stars Son but a great Actor in the making. His performance and 'superb' direction by Guna Sekhar makes this movie, one of the best directed movies of recent years. He added lot of sensibility and realism to factionist story. This reminds you of the experience you had when you watched Nagarjuna's Shiva when it first released.
