Rajasekaran, a spoiled, wealthy pilot, aggressively courts an air-hostess named Devi, despite her initial rejections. Aided by Devi’s spinster friend Baby, Raja attempts to make Devi jealous using Radha, a former air-hostess turned prostitute. Although his parents force an arranged marriage with Sandhiya, Raja rejects her. Sandhiya later invites him to her wedding, where Devi insults him. Angered but determined, Raja flies his plane recklessly until Devi, realizing her feelings, stops him and accepts his love.
However, tragedy strikes when Raja is diagnosed with terminal cancer. To spare Devi the pain of becoming a widow—a fate Sandhiya suffered—Raja cancels their temple wedding. He feigns cruelty, claiming his proposal was mere revenge, and pretends to resume his relationship with Radha, eventually marrying her to restore her dignity. Heartbroken, Devi marries Prathap, her brother's friend. When Baby reveals the truth about Raja's illness, a shocked Devi rushes to his deathbed. Seeing Devi safely married, Raja dies peacefully.
