Synopsis:
In a society life with apartheid in which castes are decreed by birth and the lower castes are shunned by their social peers, marriage across caste lines is taboo. Jyoti comes to live with her sister after her parents die. Soon, he falls in love with Ravi. What she likes in Ravi is his love for poetry. The couple dream of a life time together. But caste differences seems to be the deciding factor. Ravi is the son of a barber, a low caste. But Jyoti is a high born. When the affair comes to the notice of the village council, village elders are irate. At a meeting of the council of the village elders, the barber's son is denounced for flirting with the high born. Ravi's father is summoned and disgraced in the meeting of the council. Rather than live with dishonour. Ravi's father commits sucide. Heartbroken Ravi leaves his village and in course of time, becomes a renowned poet. Despite hi success, he still remebers the girl he once loved.
