The film centers on street cricket rivalry in suburban Chennai, where the Royapuram Rockers consistently defeat the Sharks. Raghu, a loyal Rockers player, is forced to move with his parents to the Sharks' neighborhood. Ignored by his former teammates due to the distance and eventually replaced, a resentful Raghu distances himself from the Rockers.

Raghu soon discovers that Selvi, the sister of Sharks player Pazhani, is secretly in love with her brother's teammate, Karthik. Raghu informs Karthik, initiating a friendship that leads to Raghu joining the Sharks. They practice intensely for the upcoming Radio Mirchi trophy. However, when Pazhani learns of the secret romance, the ensuing argument temporarily splits the team. After Karthik apologizes, they reconcile, but Karthik is brutally stabbed by local thugs, leaving him unable to play. Pazhani takes over as captain. In a nail-biting semi-final, the Sharks finally defeat the Rockers. The movie ends as they struggle in the finals against a formidable team of truant schoolboys.
