Ex-military officer Captain Sreekumar, affectionately known as Kumaran, runs the Mahatma College canteen following a tragic incident that claimed his father and sister. Deeply loved by the students, Kumaran actively supports them. However, Madhavi, the new English professor, dislikes him due to a prior misunderstanding. When a tragic bus accident occurs during a campus tour, Madhavi initially blames Kumaran. She later discovers Kumaran secretly funded her education when she was orphaned.
Kumaran eventually reveals the truth: disgraced former education minister Sethunathan orchestrated the bus accident to destroy Kumaran's reputation. Furthermore, Sethunathan had murdered Kumaran’s father and sister—disguising it as an accident—because his father witnessed Sethunathan sexually harassing a student and planned to report him. Enraged, students attempt to lynch Sethunathan, but Kumaran intervenes, overpowers him, and spares his life out of respect for the college grounds. Vindicated, Kumaran agrees to become the new college manager, remaining their beloved "College Kumaran."
