Thiruvarutchelvar DVD

The divinity and supremacy of Lord Shiva, written by poet Sekkhizhaar, is glorified in this film that comprises three parts. In the first part, Thiruvendhar (Sivaji Ganesan), an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, is a washerman by profession. He, religiously, washes the clothes of devotees of Lord Shiva every morning. On one occasion, when no devotees turn up, he is upset. Suddenly, Lord Shiva (Gemini Ganesan) appears in the guise of a poor man who gives his clothes for wash on the condition that he does not tear them. Unfortunately for Thiruvendhar, the clothes tear and the man admonishes him before revealing his identity. In the second part, a beggar (Gemini Ganesan) barges into the court of king Sundarar (Sivaji Ganesan) and claims that the latter is his slave. The king follows the beggar and to his utter surprise finds out the true identity of the beggar. In the final part, Thirunavukkarasu (Sivaji Ganesan), an old poet of a village, succeed in opening the doors of a temple by singing in praise of Lord Shiva. On his way to the Himalayas, he meets a kind-hearted philanthropist, Apputhi Adigal (Muthuraman). When a snake bites Apputhi’s son, Thirunavukkarasu saves him miraculously.
