Shyam (Ajay Devgan) is the son of a patriot Ramnath Kesari. Radhika (Sonali Bendre) loves him. Her father, Raja Saab (Shakti Kapoor) clashes iwth Ramnath over corruption and other issues. Their enmity grows fuelled by Radhika and Shyam's love for each other. Raja Saab gets Kesri arrested on false charges of sheltering local terrorists.
Soon Shyam is also arrested. They are tortured in jail and Kesri dies. Shyam escapes jails and joins up with Dara (Amrish Puri) who brainwashes him into becoming a terrorist. Radhika starts hating him.
Will their love survive? Does Shyam reform?
