Childhood friends Ashok and Julie share a strictly platonic bond. Ashok marries Nandini, who initially struggles with their closeness but soon accepts it. Later, Julie falls in love with Michael, a cricketer competing against Ashok for a spot on the Indian national team.

When Ashok is selected over Michael, Michael's father blackmails him: he will only allow Julie and Michael's marriage if Ashok surrenders his team spot and cuts all ties with Julie. Prioritizing his friend's happiness, Ashok agrees. He deliberately alienates Julie, secretly plans to sell his property to give her the money, and prepares to leave for Mumbai with Nandini.

Upon discovering Ashok's sacrifice, Julie and Michael rush to the railway station. Unable to find him in the crowd, Julie sings their special song, prompting Ashok to respond. The friends reunite, Ashok ultimately plays for the Indian cricket team, and years later, their children share the same enduring friendship.
