When Ashok Mehra loses his wife to a complicated childbirth, he accepts fate and continues to flourish in his successful business even as his young daughter Mini grows up, missing out on a mother’s love. As fate would have it, a struggling couple comes to depend on him for their expenses when the wife, Radha who is very similar in her looks to Ashok’s late wife is appointed as Mini’s governess. Radha’s invalid husband develops feelings of extreme jealousy in the meantime and the film progresses to a dramatic yet beautiful climax when one of the two men would make the ultimate sacrifice.
