Widowed teacher Laxmi lives with her three sons (Sanjay, Vijay, Ajay) and daughter Meena. To fund his brothers' studies, Vijay secretly does manual labor. When a con man steals Laxmi’s savings meant for Meena’s wedding, Vijay confronts him. The man dies in the altercation, and Vijay secures the money but is sentenced to seven years in prison. Upon release, Vijay discovers his sacrifices were forgotten. His brothers—now a successful lawyer and a wealthy collector—have sold their childhood home and completely disowned him. Forced to drive an auto-rickshaw, Vijay is told his mother is away on a pilgrimage. However, he is devastated to find her toiling as a common construction laborer. Enraged by their betrayal, Vijay confronts his ungrateful brothers, setting the stage to reveal the true secret behind the murder he confessed to.
