This sweeping film faithfully adapts the legendary Ramayana. When the noble Prince Rama wins the hand of the beautiful Sita, his future as King of Ayodhya seems secure. However, a wicked stepmother's scheming forces him into a 14-year forest exile. Accompanied by Sita and his loyal brother Lakshmana, Rama's peaceful banishment is shattered when the ten-headed demon king, Ravana, abducts Sita. To rescue his beloved wife, Rama allies with the powerful monkey-god Hanuman and a massive Vanara army. Together, they construct a magnificent stone bridge across the ocean to Lanka, launching a spectacular war against Ravana's demonic forces. After fierce battles involving magical weapons and mythical warriors, Rama discovers Ravana's fatal weakness and defeats him.
