Leela, a childless midwife, delivers twin boys for the wealthy Sunder Das, whose wife dies in childbirth. Secretly, she keeps one baby, Kanhaiya, and gives Sunder only one son, Kishen. Sunder, devastated, remarries Kamini, whose greedy brother Gendamal and illegitimate son Mahesh move in, abuse Kishen, and seize control of the household. Sunder is left paralyzed after an engineered “accident,” helplessly watching Kishen grow up timid, uneducated, yet kind.
Far away, Kanhaiya grows up poor but clever, bold, and movie-loving with Leela and Bholaram. The twins share a mysterious bond, feeling each other’s pain. Kishen finds love with the maid Radha, but Kamini’s family orders Mahesh to kill him for his inheritance. Kishen is thrown off a cliff and presumed dead, but survives with amnesia and is taken in by Anju, who mistakes him for Kanhaiya. Meanwhile, Kanhaiya returns to Sunder’s mansion, is mistaken for Kishen, and begins resisting the villains. Eventually, Radha, Anju, Kishen, and Kanhaiya all cross paths at a temple, the twins reunite, expose Kamini and Gendamal, and reclaim their family and stolen lives.
