Recently released from prison, small-time criminal Mahi wants to help his former inmate Balan pay for his brother Satheesh's life-saving operation. Mahi and his friend Giri accept a lucrative, dark assignment: Thottappally Surendran hires Mahi to take the blame for the planned murder of his rival, Sivasankaran, who is returning on short-term parole.
Arriving in the fishing village, Mahi saves Indu—Sivasankaran’s caretaker—from Surendran’s brother, Sugunan. A rivalry forms, and Mahi repeatedly beats the Thottappally brothers while keeping his identity hidden. The baffled villagers assume a "Mayavi" (magician) is behind the attacks.
Using his "Mayavi" persona, Mahi protects Indu and her sister Ammu (Satheesh's girlfriend), exposing the Thottappally brothers. Mahi then offers to protect Sivasankaran in exchange for Satheesh’s medical funds. A series of comedic misunderstandings ensues when Sivasankaran mistakenly believes Balan is "Mayavi" and tries to arrange a marriage between Balan and Indu. Mahi must now fight the Thottappally brothers and reveal his true identity.
