The film depicts the oppressive caste and feudal system in Rajasthan through the story of Ranjit Singh Chaudhary, a rebellious Jat peasant’s son. As a teenager, he defies caste prejudices and is bullied by the zamindar Rajput Thakur landlord’s sons, while sympathizing with two girls—the schoolmaster’s daughter and the landlord’s daughter. After fleeing to the city, Ranjit returns years later for his father’s last rites, only to find the exploitation unchanged and inherit a debt owed to the landlord. He argues that loans taken from landlords who do no work need not be repaid, sparking a call for class war. Ranjit ignites a revolution, confronts the landlord, and begins a vendetta amid a love triangle. Supported by fellow villagers, he leads a violent uprising that ends in widespread bloodshed, underscoring that while rebels die, they bring lasting change to the unjust system.
