Alongside his ally Subramaniya Siva, he organizes worker strikes and defies oppressive British mandates, leading to their unjust arrests and brutal imprisonment. While their incarceration sparks mass unrest and revolutionary acts across the country, the two leaders endure barbaric torture in jail. Chidambaram eventually emerges from prison a broken man, only to find his beloved shipping company sold to British rivals, his friends suffering or dead, and his sacrifices seemingly forgotten. Despite these profound tragic losses, he dedicates his final years to literature, holding fast to the enduring dream of an independent India.
