Shalu (Divya Bharti) is the pampered younger sister of a wealthy industrialist. She is known for her snobbishness and arrogance in college and this brings her into constant confrontation with Arun (debutant Prithvi), another student, who comes from a lower middle-class family. But for all her haughty behaviour, Shalu is a sensitive and talented poet, who writes under the pseudonym of Seema. At a college function, Arun sings a song for which the lyrics have been written by Seema and it is much appreciated. Arun confesses that he is in love with this mysterious poetess. Shalu now sees Arun in a different light. But her brother is outraged – he would like his beloved sister to marry a man who’s befitting of their social status...
