The tale revolves around two one-time pals turned foes, Shamsher Singh (Danny Denzongpa) and Surajban Singh (Amrish Puri). But love knows no barriers and as luck would have it, Madhu (Karishma Kapoor), Shamsher Singh's daughter, falls in love with Surajbhan Singh's son, Raja (Ajay Devgan), Unaware of the existing anmity between the two families. Raja though, is in love with a village belle, Pallavi (Ayesha Jhulka). Meanwhile, Shamsher Singh and Surajbhan Singh Clear all Misunderstandings. They want raja and madhu to tie the knot but when learn about raja's love for pallavi and his intention of marrying her, they receive a rude shock, so does Madhu.
