Shanta's widowed sister moves in with the family and becomes friends with Rattan Lal's youngest brother (Jagdeep). Rattan Lal gets his brothers Ramesh and Rajan married to Tara (Shyama) and Mangala. Mangala starts tearing the family apart and even poison's Tara's mind. Rajan gets disgusted with his wife's attitude and becomes an alcoholic. Tara's wily brother (Anwar Hussain) is a wicked opportunist who takes advantage of the situation and talks Rattan Lal into dividing the property.
