LIST OF MOVIES WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES

Chhoti Si Baat (1976)
Cast: Ashok Kumar, Vidya Sinha, Amol Palekar
Director: Basu Chatterjee
Synopsis: Arun (Amol Palekar) is a shy accountant in Bombay who dreams of romancing Prabha (Vidya Sinha), but never gets past following her around without managing to actually speak up. While Arun twiddles his thumbs, suave Nagesh (Asrani) steps into the picture and turns on the heat, prompting Arun to take "love coaching" from "romance specialist" Julius Nagendranath (Ashok Kumar) to win Prabha back. One of the funniest Hindi films of the 70s - is a nostalgic favourite for its quirky take on pre-hypercongestion Bombay. The film established Amol Palekar as having an uncommon comic talent for playing mousy characters, a role he would repeat several times in his career.

Pati Patni Aur Woh (1978)
Cast: Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha, Ranjeeta Kaur.
Director: B.R. Chopra
Synopsis: Adam & Eve live a worry-free life in paradise. They are instructed not to eat an apple. One day they cannot resist the temptation, and both take a bite out of it. Nature takes offense and expels them from heaven. They are forced to live on Earth as ordinary human beings - together with the apple that has followed them. Now Adam is called Ranjeet Chaddha, a Sales Manager, and Eve is called Sharda. Both meet, fall in love, and get married. Both live in perfect harmony and soon become parents of a baby boy. Then one day Sharda sees signs of a lipstick on her husband's kerchief, when she questions, he clarifies and Sharda is satisfied with his explanation. What Sharda does not know that Ranjeet is carrying on with his pretty Secretary, Nirmala Deshpande, who he has convinced that his wife is seriously ill, is dying, and will marry her after her passing. Watch how hilarious events unfold and prove that Ranjeet is a liar and a two-timer, watch him repent... but hold it! Not for long!

Insaf Ka Tarazu (1980)
Cast: Stars: Raj Babbar, Zeenat Aman, Deepak Parashar
Director: B.R. Chopra
Synopsis: After the passing of multi-millionaire Ramlal Gupta, his only son and heir, Ramesh, takes over the estate and business. He attends a Beauty Contest sponsored by Vimal Fabrics, and is attracted to the Beauty Queen, Bharti Saxena. He meets her later and invites her to his yacht to celebrate her winning the title, as well as accompanies her on several modeling shoots. He goes to her residence one morning to show her the photographs taken on his yacht. The next day Ramesh is arrested by the police and charged with sexually assaulting Bharti. He hires a advocate named Chandra, and enters a plea of not guilty, stating that both had consensual sex. The Court hears the arguments as well as the testimony from none other than Bharti's sister, Neeta, and exonerates Ramesh. Two years later, Bharti is arrested by the police for killing Ramesh in cold blood. Watch as events unfold to show what compelled Bharti to kill Ramesh, and whether the Court will sentence her to death or life in prison.

Nikaah (1982)
Cast: Raj Babbar, Deepak Parashar, Salma Agha
Director: B.R. Chopra
Synopsis: Afaque, Saif and Niloufer are college mates. Afaque wins a 10 Rupee bet with Saif, that he will be able to touch Niloufer. Afaque has a serious crush on Niloufer who does not reciprocate. Afaque however nurses his crush and is rather charming in his attempts to draw Nilofer's attention. Niloufer (Salma Agha) an attractive but quite haughty co-ed asks Afaque (Raj Babbar) to entertain the outgoing batch with his ghazals and that is the only time, when the two actually have a meaningful exchange. Time goes by and the college mates come together again. Saif (Asrani) is now a dissolute magazine editor, alcoholic and womaniser. Niloufer is divorced by Nawab Wasim (Deepak Parasher), a debonair, workacholic and self centred man. Afaque, a publisher of Urdu poetry is single while keeping the flame of his love for Niloufer alive in his heart. The story takes us through details of Sharia (muslim) law regarding divorce and remarriage. Niloufer habitually keeps a diary, which proves to be her undoing. Does she still love her her ex-husband? On her birthday she receives a present from her doting husband, a present that is so utterly unexpected and an utterly selfless sacrifice. A proposal to replace the word Talaq - which, if repeated thrice results in divorce with another word, which should be repeated time and time again in a marriage is the denouement of the film.

The Burning Train (1980)
Cast: Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Jeetendra, Hema Malini
Director: Ravi Chopra
Synopsis: Vinod Verma always dreams of creating the perfect and fastest train running in India. He will find his dream shaping up when he became an employee of Indian Railways and his plan is being executed; it took him years of hard work and dedication, in-and-out at night and day. After six years the train is finally completed and is called, 'Super Express'. The inaugural of the train will be from Delhi to Bombay with a record speed of 14 hours. In view of the progress Vinod had made during the past six years he had developed many enemies - one of whom is the son of the chair of the railway board Randhir who had a bomb planted in the train risking the lives of about 500 passengers.

Kal Ki Awaz (1992)
Cast: Dharmendra, Raj Babbar, Amrita Singh
Directors: B.R. Chopra, Ravi Chopra
Synopsis: India is plagued with kidnappings of young children from wealthy backgrounds with their abductors demanding huge ransoms or brutally killing their victims. After the retirement of Police Commissioner Hamza Sheikh, DSP Ali Haider Jaffri takes over. Shortly after this, he displays his abilities when he successfully apprehends a gang of bank robbers - albeit by jeopardizing the life of a bank customer. Then the son of the Continental Bank Chairman, Srivastav, is abducted and held for ransom. Ali comes to know about this, intervenes, but is unable to save the child, resulting in considerable criticism of mishandling this incident. Then Ali's very own world is turned upside down when his daughter, Shagufta, who is to marry Naseerudin, the son of the Home Minister, Syed Noorudin Ahmed, is abducted along with Naseerudin. The question remains - with the lives of his loved ones in jeopardy - will Ali compromise with the kidnappers?
