Synopsis:
Singhania(Kader Khan) a powerful underworld Don, has two sons. His elder son Raj(Sunil Shetty) looks after his business, while his younger son Prem(Akshay Kumar) is a playboy. raj meets and falls in love with kajal(Sonali bendre), whom he marries. Meanwhile Prem also falls in love with Pooja(Karishma Kapoor).
Singhania does not deal in drugs, neither does he allow anybody of his groupto deal in narcotics. His principles become the reason for his rivalry with Dhaneshwar(Prem Chopra), and his brother Tejeshwar(Mukesh Rishi). Due to an unfortunate incident the rivalry intensifies, and Tejeshwar cunningly traps Singhania, kills him, and declares himself the new underworld Don.
Raj and Prem vow to take revenge. They plan to take back their lost empire, and in order to achieve that Prem becomes a police inspector, who along with his brother Raj start confiscating their rival's contraband goods. Raj through his underworld connections, and Prem through the abuse of law start harassing Tejeshwwar. When Pooja holds a mirror to Prem's activities, he realises the follies of his ways He urges Prem to change also.
Will each of the "SAPOOT"(INHERITOR) follow their inner calling or continue on their individual paths? One of reform, and the other of vengeance.
